Chapter 10 - Rosalind Threatens To Disown Her Own Son Completely

As Gwen reached the doorway, Rosalind suddenly sprang up from her chair with the terrifying energy of a cornered animal.
“If you walk out of this room right now, Brandon, don't ever expect another dime from my estate!” Rosalind screamed hysterically.
Brandon looked up, a bitter, broken laugh escaping his lips as the sheer absurdity of her threat hit him.
“What estate, Mom? You live off my corporate salary and the credit cards Gwen has been paying off!” Brandon shouted back.
Rosalind gasped, clutching her chest as if she had been stabbed in the heart by her own flesh and blood.
“How dare you speak to me like that! After everything I sacrificed to raise you in San Diego!” Rosalind wailed loudly.
“You raised us to care about status and money above human decency, and look where it got us,” Brandon retorted bitterly.
Gwen paused in the doorway, casting one final, indifferent glance at the mother and son tearing each other apart.
She didn't feel anger, nor did she feel satisfaction; she felt only the sweet, clean breeze of absolute freedom.
