Chapter 3 - Rosalind Realizes Her High Society Friends Are Watching

Rosalind’s lavender dress rustled as she stepped further into the room, her eyes darting toward the open doorway behind her.

Down the hallway, the Duponts and several other prominent figures from the San Diego social circuit were peering inside with utter bewilderment.

Mrs. Dupont raised a diamond-encrusted hand to cover her mouth, whispering something to the district attorney’s wife standing beside her.

“Brandon, make this stop right now!” Rosalind hissed, her face contorting with absolute humiliation and rage.

“Tell them it’s a modern art installation or a charity fundraiser, anything other than this disgusting display!” she whispered frantically.

Brandon stammered, looking back and forth between his furious mother and the rows of cheap instant noodles.

“She did this on purpose to humiliate us!” Brandon yelled, pointing a shaking finger directly at his wife.

“I did exactly what you budgeted for, Brandon; you said two hundred dollars was more than enough,” Gwen reminded him calmly.
