Chapter 15 - Brandon Tries To Bribe Gwen To Come Back
Desperate and cornered, Brandon drove down to the coastal town where Gwen had rented her new apartment building.
He spotted her walking out of a local organic grocery store carrying two bags of fresh produce under the afternoon sun.
“Gwen! Wait! Please stop for just one minute!” Brandon cried out, jogging across the parking lot toward her.
Gwen stopped, turning around slowly to look at the disheveled man standing before her with bloodshot eyes and a wrinkled suit.
“What do you want, Brandon? You’re violating the preliminary restraining order Marcus filed yesterday,” Gwen reminded him coldly.
“I’m sorry, okay? I was stupid, I was arrogant, but we can fix this! I’ll pay you back every single cent!” Brandon pleaded desperately.
“You can’t pay me back, Brandon; your corporate accounts were frozen by federal compliance officers this morning,” Gwen pointed out accurately.
Brandon stared at her in utter shock, wondering how she possibly could have known about his corporate freeze before he did.

“My lawyer is very thorough, Brandon, and embezzlement investigations move much faster than you think,” Gwen said quietly.
“Please come home, Gwen... my mother is inconsolable, and my life is falling apart without you,” Brandon begged, reaching for her hand.
