Chapter 9 - The Cold Reality Of Twenty-Two Years Of Deception

Thomas lunged across the desk, grabbing his wife’s wrist with iron strength and wrenching the pearl-handled pistol from her grip.

He tossed the weapon across the Persian rug toward Clara, who quickly secured it inside her apron pocket.

“You are finished, Eleanor; your reign of terror and corporate deceit ends tonight,” Thomas stated with absolute finality.

Eleanor thrashed against his grip, her pristine aristocratic facade completely shattering into raw, unadulterated fury.

“You fool! Without me, you would have been a bankrupt nobody living out of a used pickup truck!” she screamed hysterically.

“I built my empire on hard work and integrity; you built yours on the graves of my family,” Thomas spat out in disgust.

He pulled a pair of heavy steel zip-ties from his desk drawer, securing Eleanor’s wrists tightly behind her back.

“Clara, call the county sheriff and federal marshals; tell them to meet us at the Pine Ridge facility in Vermont,” Thomas ordered.

“On it, Mr. Thomas,” Clara replied, tapping rapidly on her encrypted mobile device to transmit the distress signal.
