Chapter 16 - Finding The Young Woman With The Distinctive Scar

Director Vance raised the shotgun barrel toward Thomas’s chest with a cold, merciless grin plastered across his face.
“End of the line, Mr. Thomas; you should have stayed in your mansion and minded your own business,” Vance snarled.
Before Vance could pull the trigger, Clara fired a precise shot that shattered the shotgun’s barrel, sending metal shrapnel flying.
Vance howled in pain, dropping the ruined weapon as blood dripped from his shattered hand onto the concrete floor.
Thomas scooped Isabella up into his arms, lifting her carefully off the stretcher while shielding her body from the storm.
“Get in the van, Clara! We’re getting out of here right now!” Thomas ordered, carrying his daughter toward the front cab.
Clara covered their retreat, keeping her pistol trained on the wounded director as she scrambled into the passenger seat.
Thomas slammed the transit van into reverse, tires screeching against the wet pavement as he rammed through the facility gates.
