Chapter 17 - The Exile

“Pick it up,” Vanessa commanded, pointing down the aisle toward the spilled contents of the purse.
Emily stayed curled up on the leather seat, tears streaming down her pale cheeks as she shielded her baby.
“I said pick it up!” Vanessa screamed, taking another aggressive step forward.
“I... I can’t bend over easily, Vanessa... please...” Emily choked out between panicked sobs.
“Then crawl!” Vanessa raged, her aristocratic composure completely incinerated.
“You do not deserve to sit in the Sterling family VIP suite!”
Vanessa turned toward the galley curtain, her eyes blazing with furious entitlement.
“Hannah!” Vanessa yelled. “Get out here right this instant!”
The young flight attendant timidly stepped out from the galley, her face drained of all color.
“Y-yes, Mrs. Sterling?” Hannah stammered.

“Move her to the back! Put her in the jumpseat by the lavatory! Put her in the cargo hold for all I care!”
“Mrs. Sterling... she’s eight months pregnant,” Hannah protested, her voice shaking. “She needs to stay reclined—”
“DID I ASK FOR YOUR MEDICAL OPINION?!” Vanessa roared, her face turning crimson with pure venom.
“I own this plane! I pay your salary! Move her now, or I will ruin your entire life before this plane touches the ground!”
Hannah stood paralyzed, caught between the terrifying wrath of a billionaire matriarch and basic human decency.
Emily, weeping silently, tried to unbuckle her seatbelt with trembling fingers.
She couldn’t take the screaming anymore.
Her blood pressure was skyrocketing, and a dull, terrifying ache was spreading across her pelvis.
All she wanted was to get away from the monster standing over her.

“I’ll move...” Emily sobbed, struggling to get her swollen ankles under her body.
“I’ll go to the back... just stop yelling... please...”
