Chapter 10 - Little Chloe Whispers A Secret About The Attic
Before Dante could descend the stone steps to greet his uninvited guests, a small pair of arms wrapped softly around his leg.
He looked down to see little Chloe standing there in her soft pink pajamas, her big dark eyes looking up at him with innocent bravery.
“Daddy, don't go outside yet... there’s something important in the attic that the bad lady tried to hide from you,” Chloe whispered.
Dante scooped her up into his arms, kissing the top of her head gently while motioning for his chief enforcer to secure the foyer doors.
“What did you find in the attic, sweetheart?” Dante asked gently, keeping his voice calm and soothing.
“When the bad lady was packing her big secret boxes last week, I hid behind the cedar chest and saw her drop a shiny silver key,” Chloe explained.
“She said if I ever told you about the secret wall panel behind the old piano, the monsters would come get me,” the little girl shivered.
Dante’s eyes narrowed as he realized Vanessa had been hiding a secondary stash of incriminating evidence right inside the family home.

“You’re safe now, my brave little princess; no monsters will ever hurt you as long as I am breathing,” Dante vowed fiercely.
He handed Chloe over to trusted Mrs. Gable with strict instructions to keep her locked safely in the master panic suite.
