Chapter 2 - The Fiancée Pleads For Mercy In The Foyer

The cold marble floor of the grand foyer felt like sheet ice beneath Vanessa’s designer heels as she stared at the diamond ring dangling from the silver chain.

Her meticulously sculpted face twisted in absolute horror as the full weight of her catastrophic downfall crashed down upon her.

“Dante, please, you can’t be serious; this is just a misunderstanding blown completely out of proportion!” Vanessa shrieked, her voice cracking.

Dante Albasini didn't even flinch, his piercing dark eyes remaining as cold and unyielding as a freshly quarried slab of obsidian granite.

He stood tall in his tailored bespoke tuxedo, his powerful frame radiating a terrifying aura of raw, suppressed underworld authority.

“You put a metal leash on a five-year-old child and starved her for defending her late mother’s memories,” Dante growled slowly.

“She was disobedient! She refused to hand over the family heirlooms for our newly blended household aesthetic!” Vanessa defended herself frantically.

“She is a motherless child protecting the only pieces of her past she has left in this cold, brutal world,” Dante countered fiercely.

Vanessa lunged forward, desperate to grab his sleeve, but Dante’s chief enforcer stepped into her path with a heavy, menacing thud.

“Don't you dare touch me with the hands that abused my flesh and blood,” Dante warned, his voice dropping into a lethal register.
