Chapter 8 - Vanessa Plots Her Cold Revenge From A Motel

Miles away in a rundown, neon-lit roadside motel off the interstate highway, Vanessa paced furiously across the worn linoleum floor.
Her expensive designer coat was ruined, her hair was disheveled, and the engagement ring still dangled mockingly from the heavy iron chain.
“He humiliated me in front of the entire household staff... he threw me out like garbage!” Vanessa hissed into her burner phone.
On the other end of the line was Marcus Vance, a corrupt federal prosecutor who had secretly been her financial benefactor and lover.
“You rushed things, Vanessa; you should have waited until after the wedding ceremony when you legally controlled the trust funds,” Marcus scolded.
“I don't care about waiting anymore, Marcus! I want Dante Albasini ruined, his syndicate dismantled, and that brat of his put in an orphanage!” she screamed.
“Calm down and listen to me; I have access to federal asset forfeiture warrants that can freeze the Albasini shipping ports by morning,” Marcus plotted.

“Do it then! Hit him where it hurts the most, and make sure he loses every single penny of his underworld fortune,” Vanessa demanded venomously.
She hung up the phone, staring at her reflection in the cracked bathroom mirror with a psychotic glint in her eyes.
