Chapter 16 - Interrogating Vanessa’s Underworld Accomplice At The Docks

While the gun battle raged outside the main mansion, Dante’s elite extraction squad was executing a parallel operation down at the Brooklyn docks.

Marcus Vance, the corrupt prosecutor who had tried to help Vanessa, was bundled roughly into the back of a black transit van.

His expensive Italian suit was soaked in seawater, and his hands were bound tightly behind his back with industrial zip-ties.

“You can’t do this! I am a protected federal official! This is kidnapping!” Marcus shrieked hysterically as the van sped through the night.

The side door slid open, and Dante Albasini stepped inside the moving vehicle, his dark eyes gleaming with terrifying intensity.

“You tried to seize my family estate using forged federal warrants, Marcus; you stopped being a protected official a long time ago,” Dante said quietly.

“Where is Vanessa hiding? I know she didn't leave the state yet!” Dante demanded, grabbing Marcus by his silk tie and pulling him forward.

“She’s... she’s hiding in a private penthouse apartment in Manhattan owned by her father’s shipping firm!” Marcus blurted out in terror.

Dante nodded once to his enforcer, who pulled a heavy cloth hood over the corrupt prosecutor’s head before knocking him out cold.
