Chapter 14 - A Midnight Threat Arrives At The Estate Gates

At precisely midnight, a convoy of four matte-black SUVs crested the winding mountain road leading up to the Albasini iron gates.
The vehicles killed their headlights, rolling silently up the gravel drive like a pack of wolves stalking a wounded deer in the snow.
Inside the lead vehicle, Vanessa’s father gripped his submachine gun tightly, eager to avenge his daughter’s total humiliation.
“Blow the front gates off the hinges with the C4 charge; leave no survivors inside that cursed mansion,” the old boss barked coldly.
Two operatives jumped out of the passenger side, running stealthily toward the massive stone pillars holding the heavy iron security gates.
They slapped a plastic explosive charge onto the steel lock mechanism, attaching a remote detonator wire before sprinting back to cover.
“Fire in the hole,” the lead operative whispered into his comms headset, pressing the wireless remote trigger with a wicked grin.
