Chapter 9 - Security Forces Evict The Disgraced Executive From Property

Back at the mansion, four private security guards hired directly by Sterling Capital marched into the grand entrance hall.

They stood on either side of Adrian, lifting him up by his tailored suit jacket as if he weighed nothing at all.

“Get your hands off me! I own this house!” Adrian screamed, flailing weakly against the guards' iron grip.

“You own nothing, Mr. Vale; the deed was transferred to Sterling Holdings thirty seconds ago,” the head guard replied flatly.

Vanessa was escorted out behind him, carrying her personal belongings in a cheap plastic shopping bag provided by the staff.

“You can’t do this to me! I’m carrying your child, Adrian!” Vanessa shrieked as she was dragged down the front steps.

Adrian looked back at me one last time, his eyes filled with a mixture of hatred, humiliation, and bitter regret.

“Claire... please,” he whispered across the marble floor. “Tell your father to stop this.”

I looked down at him without a single trace of emotion. “You should have thought of that before the twentieth strike.”
