Chapter 6 - Adrian Begs For Mercy From A Man He Despised

Arthur Sterling did not raise his voice, nor did he look at me with pity as he surveyed the damaged marble room.
He walked slowly toward Adrian, his leather shoes clicking sharply against the floor with every deliberate step.
“You raised a hand against my daughter,” my father said, his voice quiet, steady, and utterly terrifying.
Adrian swallowed hard, trying to push himself backward against the console table with shaking hands.
“Mr... Mr. Sterling? I didn’t know... if I had known who she was—” Adrian stammered, his professional charm completely gone.
“That is precisely why you are unfit to possess a single dollar of the wealth you currently claim to own,” my father interrupted.
Vanessa cowered in the corner, realizing that the man standing before her owned the very banks that funded her family's debts.
