Chapter 3 - Vanessa Realizes Her Luxurious Lifestyle Is Instantly Gone

Vanessa’s phone began ringing with a shrill, uninterrupted tone that echoed off the high vaulted ceilings of the foyer.

She fumbled with her designer clutch, pulled out the device, and stared at the glowing screen in sheer horror.

“It’s my credit card company,” Vanessa whispered, her voice trembling. “They just declined my account for the penthouse lease.”

“That’s impossible,” Adrian muttered, still paralyzed on the floor. “We have liquidity across four major commercial banks.”

“Not anymore,” I said, stepping past them toward the grand staircase with my head held high.

Vanessa rushed toward me, abandoning her aristocratic composure as pure desperation set in. “What did you do? What did your family do?”

I stopped on the third step, looking down at the woman who had smiled while her husband raised a riding crop against my back.

“You wanted my husband, Vanessa,” I replied coldly. “Now you can share whatever financial ruin he has left.”

Her face twisted in rage, but before she could scream, her phone buzzed with an email notification regarding her frozen personal trusts.
