Chapter 5 - Grace Receives Medical Care And Shares Past Terrors

Later that night, the estate’s private physician finished bandaging Grace’s badly bruised shoulder in the west wing guest suite.
Nathan sat quietly in a leather armchair beside the bed while Lily slept soundly beneath a heavy silk blanket.
“The bone isn’t fractured, but she will need complete rest for at least two weeks,” the physician reported quietly before exiting.
Grace pulled the blanket higher around her shoulders, looking across the dimly lit room at the man she had loved and fled from years ago.
“Why didn’t you tell me when she was born, Grace?” Nathan asked, his voice breaking with suppressed pain and confusion. q
“Because your father visited me in the hospital room holding a stack of court documents and a private security detail,” Grace whispered.

Nathan closed his eyes, a heavy wave of guilt washing over him as he remembered his late father’s ruthless business tactics.
