Chapter 6 - Claire Accepts Medical Attention From The Paramedics Team
Paramedics carrying emergency medical kits rushed through the dining room doors just as Mark was being led away outside.
“We received a dispatch for a head laceration and blunt force trauma,” the lead paramedic announced, opening a sterile gauze pack.
“Over here,” Claire said softly, sitting back down in her velvet chair while wiping the blood from her temple.
The paramedic gently cleaned the wound, pressing a sterile bandage against her forehead to stop the bleeding.
“It’s a clean cut, but you’ll need a few stitches at the county medical center to close it properly,” the medic advised.
“Thank you; I’ll go to the hospital once the initial police reports are completed,” Claire replied steadily.
Lily knelt beside her mother’s chair, holding her hand tightly and checking to make sure she was truly safe.

“You were so brave, Mom... I was terrified he was going to hurt you even worse,” Lily whispered, her eyes welling with tears.
“Nobody is ever going to hurt us in this house again, sweetheart,” Claire promised, squeezing her daughter’s hand back.
