Across the long mahogany table, corporate executives, politicians, and high-society figures huddled together in fearful, hushed whispers.
“I told him marrying into that social climber’s family was a massive mistake from day one,” a prominent senator muttered.
“If those security guards search our phones, my private offshore accounts will be exposed to federal regulators,” a nervous banker groaned.
Nobody dared to stand up, walk toward the doors, or challenge Damian Vance while his armed security held the perimeter.
The crystal chandelier overhead hummed softly, casting long, distorted shadows across the expensive silk gowns and designer tuxedos.
