Chapter 13 - Forensic Teams Uncover The Sedative Drug Laboratory Upstairs

With the primary suspects detained, federal forensic investigators and local crime scene technicians took absolute control of the Hawthorne estate.

Specialized medical teams rushed upstairs to the master suite, bagging evidence from the private dressing tables and en-suite bathrooms.

Agent Miller walked down the grand staircase carrying a brown evidence bag containing several amber pharmaceutical dropper bottles.

“Mr. Vance, we recovered these liquid sedative compounds from Mrs. Hawthorne’s private cosmetic vault,” Miller reported, handing the bag to Agent Carter.

“Initial field tests indicate high concentrations of industrial-grade neuro-paralytic agents designed to immobilize motor functions without leaving trace blood markers,” Carter noted.

Maya sat on a velvet settee in the foyer, holding Noah tightly while a Greenwich paramedic checked his vital signs with a portable monitor.

“His heart rate is stabilizing, and his core temperature is returning to normal, but he needs immediate pediatric inpatient care,” the paramedic advised.

Jonathan stood nearby like a broken man, staring down at his hands as the reality of his own negligence settled over him.

“Can I... can I ride in the ambulance with him?” Jonathan asked quietly, his voice devoid of all its former corporate arrogance.

Maya looked up at him, her eyes filled with cold, unyielding judgment before she turned her attention entirely back to the shivering child.
