Chapter 2 - A Mother's Fury

A sudden, violent squeal of burning tires shrieked from the estate’s long, winding cobblestone driveway.
The heavy wrought-iron gates of the courtyard shuddered violently under the impact of an approaching vehicle.
Before the security guards could even reach for their radios, the mansion’s heavy mahogany double doors burst open.
The concussive boom of the doors striking the interior stone walls echoed like a sudden thunderclap.
Every single conversation on the terrace died instantly into an uneasy, suffocating silence.
A woman stood framed against the marble entrance hall, her chest heaving with volcanic, unadulterated fury.
It was Eleanor Ashford, Toby’s mother, returning four hours early from her emergency business flight.
Her eyes swept across the courtyard, instantly locking onto the cruel spectacle beside the veranda pillar.
She saw the thick red ribbon binding her only child’s bruised and bleeding wrists to the timber.
She saw the sickening white streaks of cold soup dripping from his soaked hair down to his boots.
She saw the deep, purplish handprints blazing on his pale cheeks and the blood pooling at his chin.
And she saw Richard Ashford standing smugly over her son, holding a polished cane like a conquering king.
A feral, ear-splitting scream of pure maternal rage shattered the stagnant afternoon air.
“GET YOUR FILTHY HANDS OFF MY SON!”
The cry carried such raw, primal violence that several guests reflexively stepped back in absolute terror.
Eleanor did not hesitate for a fraction of a second.
She tore across the polished stone patio like a guided missile wrapped in silk and pure vengeance.
Her designer heels clicked violently against the marble before she kicked them off mid-stride without slowing down.
Richard barely had time to turn his smug face toward the sudden sound of approaching footsteps.
Eleanor planted her foot firmly on the edge of the low terrace step, launching her entire body weight forward.
Her right leg snapped outward in a vicious, perfectly executed front kick directly into Richard’s solar plexus.
BANG!
The sound of the impact was dull, wet, and horrifyingly loud.
Richard’s eyes bulged completely out of their sockets as all the oxygen was violently expelled from his lungs.
The grown man was lifted clean off his feet and sent hurtling backward through the air.
He crashed directly through a ten-foot banquet table laden with silver platters and three-tiered glass stands.
Plates shattered into thousands of jagged flying pieces.
Vintage champagne bottles exploded across the stone terrace, soaking the table runners in foaming alcohol.
Roast beef, lobster tails, and delicate pastries rained down over Richard’s groaning, sprawled body.
The guests gasped in synchronized horror, several dropping their crystal glasses onto the stone pavers.
Evelyn shrieked in absolute hysteria, her aristocratic composure vaporizing into hysterical panic.
“You lunatic animal!” Evelyn screamed, raising her sharp French-manicured claws to rake Eleanor’s face.
Evelyn charged forward with the frantic, clumsy fury of an entitled woman who had never faced physical resistance.
Eleanor did not even blink as the manicured nails slashed within inches of her eyes.
She gracefully sidestepped the wild lunge, grabbing Evelyn’s wrist and wrenching it downward with brutal precision.
Simultaneously, Eleanor drove a vicious side kick deep into the woman’s midsection.
The force of the strike propelled Evelyn backward off the terrace edge and straight into the dense rose hedges.
Thorny branches snapped loudly as the woman landed violently among the leaves, screaming in agony and ruin.
Leaves, red petals, and thorn pricks instantly destroyed her five-thousand-dollar emerald designer gown.
Richard, coughing blood and choking on bile, managed to roll onto his knees among the shattered dinner plates.
He grabbed a heavy silver soup ladle and pulled himself up with wild, murderous eyes.
“I will destroy you, you insolent bitch!” Richard wheezed, charging toward Eleanor with his weapon raised.
Eleanor did not retreat an inch.
Her eyes were cold, calculating, and burned with the lethal instinct of a mother protecting her only child.
As Richard lunged forward, she ducked cleanly beneath his clumsy, rage-blinded swing.
She pivoted smoothly on her bare heel, driving a devastating defensive spinning kick straight into his jaw.
The sound of crunching bone silenced the entire estate.
Richard’s head whipped around violently, his silver ladle flying out of his hand and clattering across the tiles.
His knees buckled beneath him like wet cardboard, and he collapsed face-first onto the hard stone pavers.
This time, Richard did not move.
A stunned, deathly hush blanketed the entire estate, broken only by the whimpering of Evelyn trapped in the thorn bushes.
Eleanor did not spare the fallen monsters a second glance.
She rushed directly to the wooden pillar where Toby hung limply, shivering and weeping in the cold breeze.
Her hands shook uncontrollably as she grabbed the tight red ribbon cutting into his raw wrists.
Her fingernails tore at the intricate knots, refusing to stop even when her own skin ripped against the coarse fabric.
With a final desperate tear, she ripped the crimson silk apart, releasing her nineteen-year-old son from his torture.
The moment the tension snapped, Toby’s exhausted legs gave out completely beneath his shivering frame.
He collapsed forward like a fallen tree, straight into his mother’s waiting, desperate arms.
“Mom…” Toby sobbed, the sound muffled against her collar as tears finally broke through his shock.
“I have you, my baby,” Eleanor whispered fiercely, wrapping her arms around his trembling, soup-soaked body.
She did not care about the grease ruining her clothes, nor the blood staining her white blouse.
She held him with an iron grip, her eyes scanning the paralyzed crowd with the lethal intensity of a lioness.
No one dared to breathe.

No one dared to step forward.
The wealthy wolves who had laughed moments ago were now staring into the eyes of the ultimate predator.
