Chapter 9 - The Unveiling

Seventy-two hours later.
The Grand Rotunda of the Federal District Courthouse in Manhattan was swarmed by hundreds of journalists, flashing cameras, and international news networks.
The headlines had dominated every screen on Earth:
**"BILLIONAIRE DYNASTY CONSPIRACY: STERLING AND BLACKWELL ARRESTED FOR DUAL ASSASSINATIONS."**
**"CHIEF OF TRAUMA EXONERATED: DR. ELENA BENNETT FRAMED BY PHARMACEUTICAL TITANS."**
**"VICTORIA STERLING TURNS STATE'S EVIDENCE: SENTENCED TO TWENTY YEARS."**
Inside the private VIP chamber overlooking the courthouse steps, Arthur Hastings sat in a leather chair, fully recovered, sipping tea while a team of medical experts nodded in approval.
"She saved my life, Alexander," Arthur said, looking at his surrogate son with deep affection. "If that girl hadn't performed that emergency procedure with a ballpoint pen, I would be in the family crypt right now. She is a miracle."
"She is more than that, Arthur," Alexander replied softly, adjusting the cuffs of his immaculate dark navy suit. He looked out the window, watching the sea of reporters gathered at the bottom of the grand stone steps.
The heavy wooden doors opened, and Elena walked into the room.
The transformation took Alexander’s breath away.
She was no longer wearing the wrinkled apron of a maid or the rain-soaked tactical gear of a fugitive. She wore a stunning, impeccably tailored ivory silk blazer dress, her dark hair swept up in an elegant chignon. Her posture was regal, her chin lifted high, radiating the quiet, untouchable majesty of a world-class physician and the rightful heir to the Bennett medical legacy.
"Dr. Bennett," Arthur Hastings said, standing to his feet and bowing his head in profound gratitude. "Words will never suffice. You gave me back my life."
Elena smiled warmly, taking the old man’s hands. "You're healing well, Arthur. But stick to the mineral water from now on."
Arthur chuckled heartily before turning to Alexander. "I’ll give you two some privacy before the press conference." He slipped out of the room, leaving Alexander and Elena alone.
Alexander walked over to her. For a long moment, the man who controlled billions of dollars stood completely silent, simply gazing at the woman who had walked through hell and emerged victorious.
"The federal judge just signed the executive order," Alexander said gently. "Your medical license has been fully reinstated with immediate commendation from the Presidential Board of Medicine. Your father’s research patents have been returned to you in their entirety."
Elena’s eyes filled with soft tears, but this time, they were tears of triumph. "We did it."
"You did it, Elena," Alexander countered, his voice rich with admiration. "You survived. You fought. And you saved this entire family from destruction."
"You gave me your coat when I was bleeding on the floor, Alexander," Elena reminded him softly. "You believed me when the entire world called me a criminal."
Alexander reached into his jacket pocket and pulled out a small velvet box.

Elena’s breath caught in her throat. Her heart skipped a violent beat. "Alexander... what is that?"
