Chapter 7 - Victoria Packs Her Designer Bags In Tears

Downstairs in the master walk-in closet, two federal agents supervised as Victoria frantically shoved clothes into a leather suitcase.
“You cannot pack these diamond-encrusted evening gowns; they are designated as assets linked to the embezzlement probe,” Agent Carter informed her.
“These were gifts from my husband! You have no right to touch my personal wardrobe!” Victoria shrieked in protest.
“Everything purchased with embezzled corporate trust funds is subject to immediate federal asset seizure,” Carter replied without emotion.
Victoria slammed her suitcase shut, her makeup smeared across her face from hours of hysterical crying.
She marched out into the grand foyer, expecting at least one sympathetic glance from the senior estate butler.
The butler turned his back deliberately, refusing to acknowledge her presence as she dragged her lone suitcase across the marble.
The iron front doors swung open, revealing a waiting transport van parked under the exterior security lights.
Victoria paused on the stone threshold, looking back one last time at the multi-million-dollar mansion she had ruled like a queen.

Now, she was leaving in disgrace, headed for a concrete holding cell instead of a high-society charity gala.
