Chapter 6 - Ethan Comforts The Terrified Baby In Nursery

With the chaos in the hallway subsiding, Ethan walked over to the custom wooden crib and peered down inside.

The little baby stirred softly, blinking its bright eyes before reaching up tiny hands toward Ethan’s finger.

Ethan gently scooped the infant into his arms, pressing the baby’s warm cheek against his chest with profound relief.

“You’re safe now, little one; nobody will ever threaten your life in this house again,” Ethan whispered softly.

Maria watched the tender moment with a gentle smile, feeling a deep sense of peace wash over her weary soul.

“Thank you for staying alert and turning on those security feeds, Maria; you saved this child’s life tonight,” Ethan said sincerely.

“It was my duty, Mr. Hawthorne, and I would do it again in a heartbeat,” Maria replied with quiet dignity.

Federal agents and security guards stood quietly in the background, respecting the solemn emotional weight of the rescue.

The dark shadow that had hung over the estate for months was finally lifted by courage and truth.
