Chapter 14 - Victoria Tries To Blackmail Her Ex-Husband
Back at the federal holding facility, Victoria used her one allowed legal phone call to ring Ethan’s direct cell line.
Ethan picked up the phone on the third ring, putting the call on speaker so Maria could hear the conversation.
“Ethan! You have to drop these federal charges and settle the divorce privately right now!” Victoria demanded frantically.
“Is that a request or a desperate plea from a prison cell, Victoria?” Ethan asked coldly.
“If you don't drop the charges, I’ll release documents to the press claiming you were an abusive alcoholic behind closed doors!” she threatened.
“Those lies won't work anymore, Victoria; we just found your hidden wall safe containing actual blackmail records,” Ethan countered.
The line went dead silent for several seconds as the blood drained from Victoria’s face across town.
“You... you found the safe?” she whispered in sheer terror, realizing her final weapon had failed completely.
