Vance gestured toward his guards, who stepped forward with quick, disciplined movements to secure the physical ledgers from the hatch.
"The Caldwell Group was never the head of the dragon, Miss Bennett; it was simply the western branch," Vance stated with absolute calm.
"For thirty years, elite families across five states used these custom-built structural spaces to protect their private assets from federal scrutiny," he explained.
"Your father understood that every building has a voice, and he tried to make those buildings testify against us," Vance added softly.
"I will complete his work," I said, my voice echoing with unbreakable resolve beneath the glass dome of the conservatory.
"You are one woman with a structural engineering license," Vance scoffed gently, taking a step toward the garden exit.
