Chapter 22 - THE BOSTON CONNECTION

I called Lydia and Maya into my private conference room, laying the yellowed blueprints across the glass table.

Lydia adjusted her spectacles, her sharp legal eyes scanning the property deeds attached to the Boston court file.

"This historic manor in Beacon Hill was owned by Sterling Vance," Lydia murmured, her voice dropping into a tense whisper.

"Sterling Vance was Eleanor Caldwell's original business partner before he mysteriously disappeared in the late nineties," Maya added, her face turning pale.

The court documents revealed that my mother had worked as an apprentice architect on the Vance manor shortly before her sudden death.

"Look at the foundation specifications," I pointed out, highlighting a series of reinforced steel pillars buried beneath the wine cellar.

"These are not structural support beams; these are security locks designed to hold something heavy inside the earth," I explained.

A sudden knock at the door made us all jump as my lead field technician stepped into the room with an urgent expression.
