Chapter 16 - The Raw Footage Leaks

By 10:00 AM the next day, protestors and paparazzi swarmed the sidewalk outside Vance Capital’s headquarters on Park Avenue. Tabloid headlines screamed: *THE BILLIONAIRE BRIDE-BEATER* and *HIGH SOCIETY HORROR: MARGARET VANCE ACCUSED OF BRUTALIZING BRIDE.*

Inside the 40th-floor boardroom, the tension was suffocating. Three senior board members were already demanding that Margaret step down as chairwoman to protect the firm's sovereign wealth clients.

"We are hemorrhaging institutional confidence," said Richard Sterling, a major shareholder. "Margaret, if this goes to trial, the discovery process will tear this firm open. Settle with her. Give her ten million, sign a mutual NDA, and bury it."

"If you give a hyena a bone," Margaret answered without looking at him, "it doesn't leave. It brings the pack."

The double doors of the boardroom swung open. Ryan walked in, followed by two young men wearing black hoodies carrying heavy server cases.

"Sit down, Richard," Ryan commanded. The board members fell silent; there was a cold, terrifying authority in his eyes that none of them had seen since Arthur was alive.

Ryan gestured to the IT specialists. "The country club’s security system wasn't the only camera in that ballroom. My father had a private security protocol installed throughout the facility five years ago when the firm hosted the G7 economic summit."

Ryan plugged an encrypted hard drive into the boardroom terminal.

On the eighty-inch wall monitor, an ultra-high-definition feed appeared from a high-angle ceiling camera directly above the bridal party table. The audio was crystal clear, captured by directional ceiling microphones.

The video rolled.

There was no physical aggression from Margaret. The footage showed Margaret standing gracefully, holding a slim glass of water. Vanessa approached her from behind, her face contorted in rage, whispering into Margaret's ear: *"You signed my death warrant, you old bitch. If I don't get that deed today, I'll tell Ryan who paid for his father's medical errors in Boston."*

Margaret turned, her expression pure steel. *"You are a parasite, Vanessa. The game is over."*

That was when Vanessa’s hand shot out. It wasn't a defensive reflex. It was a vicious, flat-palmed strike delivered with full body weight that knocked Margaret’s head sideways and sent her champagne glass shattering across the marble floor.

The room on the screen erupted into chaos, while Vanessa stood over the older woman, sneering before quickly dropping to her knees to fake distress when she realized the entire room was staring.

"That’s not all," Ryan said, his voice slicing through the stunned silence of the boardroom. "Watch the next three minutes."

The video continued. As security rushed the floor, Vanessa’s phone slipped from her evening clutch. A man in a dark tuxedo stepped out from the catering corridor, scooped up the phone, tapped the screen, and slipped it into his jacket before slipping away through the service exit.

Ryan paused the frame and zoomed in on the man’s face.

Richard Sterling went pale. His hands began to shake against the mahogany conference table.
