Chapter 16 - The Dragon Takes the Chair

The news of the attempted assassination broke across Wall Street like a category-five hurricane.

Rumors circulated that Richard Harrison had suffered a catastrophic stroke and was clinging to life in an undisclosed ICU.

Harrison Enterprises stock plunged eight percent within the first hour of trading.

At ten o’clock that morning, an emergency closed-door shareholder assembly was convened on the top floor of the Harrison Tower.

Julian Vance stood at the center podium before forty major institutional investors and board members, radiating quiet triumph.

"Ladies and gentlemen," Vance announced through the microphone, his tone feigning deep sorrow. "Given the tragic incapacitation of our founder, the bylaws clearly dictate that emergency executive authority must transition to the Senior Managing Director."

He paused, adjusting his diamond cufflinks with a look of supreme confidence.

"I am officially calling for an immediate vote to assume the role of Acting Chairman and Chief Executive Officer."

"The motion is out of order, Mr. Vance."

The heavy double doors of the auditorium swung wide open.

Every head snapped around.

Emily Harrison walked down the center aisle.

She wore an impeccably tailored navy suit, her hair pulled back into a severe, elegant chignon.

Flanking her were Cole Walker and two federal agents carrying heavy leather briefcases.

Vance gripped the sides of the podium, his knuckles turning white.

"Miss Harrison. This is a closed executive session. You have no legal standing—"

"I have fifty-one percent of the voting shares of this company registered under an irrevocable family trust," Emily stated, her voice amplified through the secondary microphones.

She walked onto the elevated stage and stood two feet from Vance.

"And as majority trustee, I am exercising my right to terminate your employment. Effective ten seconds ago."

A collective gasp echoed across the auditorium.

"You can't do this!" Vance snarled, dropping his suave mask completely. "You are an uneducated child playing a game you do not understand! You know nothing of our contracts, our European debt, our—"

"I know all about your European debt, Julian," Emily interrupted smoothly.

She signaled to one of the federal agents, who stepped forward and projected a series of banking wire transfers onto the massive digital display screen behind the podium.

"Over the past six years, forty-two million dollars were funneled from Harrison Logistics into an offshore account in the Cayman Islands under the company name *Ouroboros Holdings*," Emily declared.

Vance froze as if struck by lightning.

"And forty-eight hours ago," Emily continued, her eyes boring into his, "three hundred thousand dollars was wired from that exact account to an international mercenary contractor operating out of Belgrade."

The room erupted into pandemonium. Investors leaped to their feet, shouting in outrage.

Two FBI agents stepped through the side doors, handcuffs gleaming at their belts.

"Julian Vance," the lead agent announced, approaching the stage. "You are under arrest for corporate embezzlement, conspiracy to commit murder, and interstate wire fraud."

Vance backed away toward the edge of the stage, his face twisted in desperate rage.

He pointed a shaking finger at Emily.

"You think you won, you arrogant little gutter rat?" Vance hissed, spittle flying from his lips. "You have no idea who is pulling the strings! You think I wanted your pathetic grandfather's company?"

Vance let out a wild, crazed laugh as the agents grabbed his arms and forced them behind his back.

"I was just the errand boy, Emily! The real master of this game hasn't even stepped onto the board yet!"

Emily watched in silence as Vance was dragged out of the auditorium in front of flashing press cameras.

She took her place behind the podium, looked out over the stunned assembly of billionaires, and leaned toward the microphone.

"Harrison Enterprises is open for business," Emily said with absolute authority. "And the housecleaning has just begun."
