Chapter 5 - The Digital Avalanche

While Arthur and Tiffany Vance were melting down inside the manager’s office, the outside world had not remained idle.

We live in an era where anonymity is an illusion and every pair of designer sunglasses conceals a smartphone camera. The garden party had been attended by thirty of the most socially active, clout-hungry influencers, socialites, and minor celebrities in Southern California.

When Tiffany had screamed *“WATCH WHERE YOU'RE GOING, OLD LADY!”* and shoved Eleanor Sterling into the turf, at least four different people had been recording TikToks and Instagram stories of the lavish dessert buffet.

By the time Eleanor’s Maybach pulled away from the country club gates, a video titled **"Billionaire Brat Attacks 75-Year-Old Grandmother at Bel-Air Party—WATCH WHAT HAPPENS NEXT!"** had already exploded across the internet.

It was a social media masterpiece of poetic justice.

The video captured everything with crystal-clear high-definition audio and video:

1. Tiffany’s cruel, sadistic smirk as she shoved Eleanor down.

2. The sickening crash of the silver serving tray and pastries.

3. Tiffany’s hysterical laughter while Eleanor lay in the grass.

4. Eleanor’s majestic, terrifying rise from the mud.

5. The thunderous *SLAP* that echoed through the garden.

6. The catastrophic rip of Tiffany’s red dress and her undignified, ass-backward plunge into the two-tiered wedding-style buttercream cake.

Within forty-five minutes, the video had amassed three million views on TikTok. Within two hours, it had crossed twenty million across X (formerly Twitter), Instagram, and YouTube.

The internet’s reaction was swift, vicious, and completely unanimous.

Comment sections erupted:

- *"Who is this blonde demon?! Name and shame her!"*

- *"That grandma took the hit, got back up, and delivered the slap of the century! What a queen!"*

- *"Her name is Tiffany Vance, daughter of Arthur Vance from Vance Capital. Her Instagram is @TiffanyVanceOfficial. Go get her, internet."*

The digital mob descended like a swarm of locusts.

Tiffany’s Instagram account, which had boasted nearly a million followers filled with curated photos of private jets, yacht trips in St. Tropez, and stacks of luxury shopping bags, became a digital war zone. Tens of thousands of comments flooded her posts:

*"Grandma-beating trash."*

*"How does it feel to look like a frosted clown?"*

*"Enjoy prison, sweetie."*

Sponsors who paid Tiffany hundreds of thousands of dollars to promote their luxury wellness brands, skin serums, and designer handbags began dropping her publicly. Notifications started pinging frantically on Tiffany’s ruined phone while she was being led out the back service exit of the country club by security to avoid the gawking members.

"Make it stop!" Tiffany screamed, sitting in the passenger seat of her father's Mercedes as he sped erratically through the winding roads of Bel-Air. She was clutching her phone, her eyes wild, her face smeared with mascara, blood, and dried frosting. "Dad, hire a PR firm! Call the news networks! Issue a cease-and-desist! Everyone is calling me a monster! They’re doxxing my address!"

Arthur Vance didn't answer. He was driving with one hand, his knuckles white against the steering wheel, while holding a separate phone to his ear with the other.

"Listen to me, Charles!" Arthur screamed into his phone. "I need the jet ready at Van Nuys Airport! I don't care about the flight plan! File a route to Zurich or Grand Cayman right now!"

He listened for two seconds before slamming the phone against the dashboard, shattering the screen.

"Bastards!" Arthur howled, hitting the steering wheel. "The charter company cancelled my account! They said my credit cards were flagged for fraud! We can't even get onto an airfield!"

Tiffany looked at her father, her breath catching in her throat. "What do you mean, Dad? What about our private plane? The Gulfstream?"

"It’s not our plane, you stupid girl!" Arthur screamed, turning his venomous eyes toward her as they stopped at a red light. "The plane belongs to Sterling Aviation! We leased it through Vance Capital! Eleanor’s lawyers grounded it an hour ago! We have nothing! Do you understand me? We have *nothing*!"

As if on cue, the Mercedes suddenly sputtered. The dashboard display flashed red:

**REMOTE TELEMATICS SHUTDOWN INITIATED. VEHICLE LEASE DEFAULT. PULL OVER SAFELY.**

The steering wheel stiffened. The accelerator went completely dead under Arthur's foot. The luxury vehicle coasted to a halt right in the middle of Sunset Boulevard, its hazard lights blinking uselessly.

A group of pedestrians on the sidewalk stopped, staring at the stalled car. One teenager holding a skateboard looked through the tinted window, recognized Tiffany’s ruined face and red dress from the viral video on his phone, and began shouting:

"Yo! That's her! That's the cake girl! The grandma-slapper!"

Within seconds, a dozen people gathered, pointing their phone cameras directly at the windshield, flashing and recording.

Tiffany ducked between her knees, sobbing uncontrollably into her stained lap, realizing for the first time in her pampered life that the world she lived in was not a fortress.

It was a cage. And the door had just been locked from the outside.
