Chapter 10 - The Unbroken Crown

The sun rose over the eastern seaboard on a crisp Monday morning, casting a brilliant, golden glow across the glass facade of Sterling Global Towers.

Inside my office on the forty-second floor, the desk was completely clear of clutter. No fraudulent proxy papers. No hidden offshore ledgers. No ticking time bombs left behind by greedy relatives.

Just a sleek laptop, a framed photograph of my father, and a single, fresh orchid placed neatly in a ceramic vase by Clara’s team.

I stood by the floor-to-ceiling windows, my suit jacket neatly pressed, my posture absolute and unyielding.

My phone chimed softly on the desk.

It was an alert from the federal prosecutor’s office: the formal trial dates for Martin, Daniel, and Vanessa had been set for early spring, with overwhelming physical, digital, and financial evidence ensuring that none of them would see freedom for a very long time.

I didn't feel anger when I read the notification. I didn't feel triumph, either.

I just felt complete, absolute peace.

The accident had tried to break me. The people I loved had tried to bury me. They had designed a tragedy to look like an accident and handed me a wheelchair so I would sit quietly in the corner while they divided up my empire.

They had forgotten one fundamental truth about power:

True strength isn't about how loud you shout in a boardroom, or how many millions you inherit, or who stands beside you when the weather is warm.

It’s about who stays when the lights go out, the floor drops away, and you have to stand up on your own two feet to face the dark.

The heavy oak door of my office clicked open, and Clara walked in, holding a fresh cup of coffee and a tablet containing the morning’s global shipping projections.

“Morning, Mr. Julian,” she said with a bright, confident smile.

“Good morning, Clara,” I replied, turning away from the window and walking toward my desk.

I sat down in the executive chair, my hands resting steadily on the polished wood, ready to write the next chapter of an empire that couldn't be broken because it was finally built on truth.

“Let’s get to work,” I said.
